Geomag Supercolor Panels: Toy Review

The Geomag Supercolor Panels set is a vibrant addition to the Geomag range of magnetic construction toys. There are two storage boxes contained within this set, which house the magnetic rods and metallic spheres that can be used to create all manner of geometric structures.

Also included are ten triangular panels, 8 square panels and two pentagonal panels that are perfectly sized to fit inside the stick and ball constructs. Like the outside of the metal rods, these decorative panels are made from 100% recycled plastic and are brightly coloured to appeal to young children.

The panels themselves can be quite tricky to place without pushing the structure over which I assume is the reason this set is for age 5 and over (as opposed to the age 3 and over recommendation for some other sets such as the Geomag Classic set that contains base plates instead of panels). When they are in place though, the panels do reinforce the build and make it sturdier.

The main benefit we found was that the panels could act as walls and doors on mini houses or the shell of an unidentified flying object which turns the creation into something that gets played with for longer than the bare bones builds. This 52 piece set would be an ideal introduction to the Geomag construction world but would also be a great addition to an existing Geomag collection because the different Geomag sets are compatible with one another.
