Our First Lowry offers free theatre tickets for Salford families

The Lowry is offering free and discounted theatre tickets for Salford families.

If you have children under the age of 5, live in Salford and have never been to a theatre show at The Lowry as a family before, then you can join the ‘Our First Lowry’ scheme to get free and discounted tickets.

The ‘Our First Lowry’ scheme will invite you and your family to watch three shows over the course of the year starting in summer 2019 with ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt.’

Based on the much-loved book picture by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury, this mischievous celebration of play is the perfect treat for families with children aged 3 and up.

Sally Cookson’s vivid and noisy adaptation sees an intrepid family of adventurers and their musical dog set off on a quest to find a bear. Set to Benji Bower’s versatile lively score, imagination runs riot as the family wades through gigantic swishy swashy grass, the splishy splashy river and the thick oozy, squelchy mud!

Expect catchy songs, interactive scenes, plenty of adventure and a few surprises along the way.

Recent family shows at The Lowry have included In the Night Garden, Bing Live and the Christmas spectacular, Doctor Dolittle.

Other family shows coming up in for autumn 2019 include the stage adaptation of Julia Donaldson’s Tabby McTat, which tells the story of a cat with the loudest of meee-ews and his best friend with a guitar. And Rod Campbell’s timeless classic, Dear Zoo, with child-engaging puppets, music and lots of audience interaction.

For ‘Our First Lowry’ members tickets are free for the first two shows offered as part of the scheme, and then £2.50 each for the third performance.

The closing date to join the ‘Our First Lowry’ scheme is Friday 31 May 2019. To be eligible, you must live in Salford, and have never booked for a children’s show at The Lowry before.

By signing up to join, you also get membership of Our Lowry, a scheme open to all Salford residents, offering discounted tickets by text or email.
